Stegerød is a work-training farm for young adults aged 18–25 transitioning from foster care towards independent adult life.
A collection of new buildings forms a sheltered working courtyard at the centre of the project. The farm shop, workshop, production kitchen and inhabitable greenhouse provide settings for a broad range of activities, from growing vegetables and caring for animals to making, cooking, hosting events and welcoming visitors. Together, they create a supportive environment where working, learning and everyday life take place alongside one another.
A continuous timber pergola connects the individual buildings, forming a shared threshold between inside and outside and extending working and social spaces into the courtyard. At its centre, a garden creates a shared garden and informal place to gather.
Beyond the courtyard, the buildings establish connections to the surrounding landscape. To the south, the greenhouse opens directly onto the vegetable garden, linking growing, harvesting and events. To the east, large glazed doors on two sides of the production kitchen open towards the garden and natural swimming pond, allowing cooking and communal activities to extend outdoors.
